I am a multiracial AuDHD (Autistic and ADHD) woman, trauma survivor and chronic illness survivor dedicated to improving the quality of mental health care for neurodiverse populations through advocacy, education and peer support.
Education
B.A. in Women’s and Gender Studies from Temple University
M.A. in Critical Social Geography from San Diego State University
M.S. in Psychology/Translational Neuroscience from the University of Oregon
Professional experience
I have over 10 years of experience providing consultation and peer support to neurodivergent populations, including through children’s mental health advocacy. I am currently the Neurodiversity and Autistic Health Director at Smart Living Learning and Earning with Autism (SLLEA). Views expressed are my own.
Research
In the past I have conducted research on Black Sovereignty movements in Philadelphia that were funded by Harvard Law School’s Institute for Global Law and Policy. I was also awarded a Canadian Fulbright Scholarship to research North American immigration rights, but turned it down to accept a doctoral fellowship. I am currently researching BIParent of Color NICU Satisfaction funded by the Center for Institutional Courage and UO Center for Women in Society.
Contemplative Practice
I have been practicing contemplative modalities such as meditation, somatics and expressive arts for 15 years. I completed various trainings in Zen meditation and Christian contemplative practices. I completed somatic workshops and trainings with Danceability, Tamalpa, Continuum, Embodied Mindfulness, Embodied Nature, Somatic Experiencing and more. I am a certified 500-hour yoga therapist.
